Do Something! is a nationwide organization  which encourages and supports empowering youth to become involved in their community. To find out more about this organization, please go to the teen website at www.dosomething.org

In Do Something!, we’ve helped out at Columbus Home and Beaumont Elementary School. At the foster home, we sorted bags of clothing, hung up the wearable clothing, and sent the rest to Goodwill. We’ve visited Beaumont Elementary 6 times. Some students painted a vine on the walls, some read to students, some set up the book fair, and some have been working on the garden. We  also painted the playground.

Greenway is doing a project with a program called "Do Something". "Do Something" is a program where you choose community problem to help fix. Greenway has decided to work with a foster children’s program. What we are going to do is buy birthday presents for the foster family to give to the foster child so that the foster child can get something nice for his/her birthday. The children that we are going to be working with are toddlers through 15 year olds. If you have any questions, you can contact the school.

We are also doing a clothing drive for Morgan-Scott County needs, making a donation to Children’s Hospital, and possibly working with inner-city schools like Beaumont Elementary, Sarah Moore Green, etc.

In October, these Greenway students donated 93 new books for for Knoxville area pediatricians to give to disadvantaged parents of preschool patients.    Our students surely remember how they loved being read to at home when they were little.   Ms. Mullins launched her "Kisses & Hugs (Hershey type) for Books" incentive at Greenway to assist  the Reach Out and Read early literacy project.
